Cyprus -Newspapers
British and European newspapers are available in resorts a day after
publication.
In the south the mail is published daily in English. The Cyprus Weekly is an
independent English language newspaper published every Friday, with a diverse
selection of news, politics, business, environment, arts and sports. The Cyprus
Weekly is rivalled by the daily Cyprus Mail, which has a good Sunday `What's On'
section including chemist and Sunday petrol station details. Both newspapers
cover the political division between north and south Cyprus in great depth and
have a somewhat gossipy, tabloid feel in most of their coverage. The Financial
Mirror is the island's leading business newspaper, published weekly in English.
Foreign newspapers are expensive. Most English magazines can also be
bought, although they're not cheap. English language books are sold in the
main tourist centres.
The North also has an English-language newspaper, the heavily biased Cyprus
Times
